A war memorial on the Gallipoli Peninsula honoring the Austro-Hungarian artillery units of the Dardanelles
The Siege of the Dardanelles (1915–1916) was one of the most well-known series of battles of World War I. From November 1915 onward, the combat operations of the Ottoman troops defending Gallipoli were supported by the artillery forces of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
After the fighting for control of the peninsula ended, the Ottoman high command awarded a significant portion of the personnel of the two Austro-Hungarian batteries. In 2020, the Government of Hungary erected a memorial on the promenade of the Çanakkale Legend Information Center (Çanakkale Destanı Tanıtım Merkezi) in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the HM Institute of Military History and Museum.
