Attila Onaran: The Meteorite Sculpture
Sculptor Attila Onaran was born in Istanbul in 1932. His family’s roots on his mother’s side trace back to the city of Kalocsa in Hungary. He graduated from the State Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul. He dedicated his work to creating abstract and emotionally charged pieces using stainless steel. He created Turkey’s first stainless steel sculpture. This sculpture, titled “Meteorite,” which was created in 1973, became one of the symbols of Istiklal Avenue.
