Ferenc Hillinger and Bruno Taut: The Culture Pavilion at the Izmir International Fair
At the Izmir International Fair, which opened on September 1, 1936, 48 foreign and 32 regional institutions, as well as 45 local associations, were represented. Each of the pavilions built on the vast grounds showcased the work of a different architect. The magazine ’Arkitekt’ provided a detailed account of these works by outstanding masters in 1939. The cultural pavilion, whose imposing structure still attracts attention today, was jointly designed by the German architect Bruno Taut and the Hungarian architect Ferenc Hillinger.
