Hungarian Heritage in Turkey

Hungarian-Turkish Friendship Park, Çatalağzı-Zonguldak

Zonguldak is one of the major industrial centers on the Black Sea coast, famous for its coal mining.

In the early 20th century, numerous Hungarian engineers worked in the town, whose names have come to light through recent research of Prof. Dr. Yücel Namal. In the Autumn of 2025, by the cooperation of the Zonguldak-Çatalgazi Municipality, the Bülent Ecevit University in Zonguldak, the Hungarian Embassy in Ankara, and the Liszt Institute in Istanbul a park was opened that also commemorates the Hungarian engineers who once lived here. Visitors to the park can learn about the memories of our shared history from information panels, and a Teqball table awaits the youngs.
