Statue of Mancs in Izmit
Mancs was a former rescue dog with the Spider Rescue Team in Miskolc. Together with his owner, László Lehoczki, he took part in numerous rescue operations around the world. During the 1999 Izmit earthquake, they rescued a three-year-old girl from under the rubble with his help, after she had been trapped there for 82 hours. In December 2004, a statue of Mancs, created by sculptor Borbála Szanyi, was unveiled in downtown Miskolc. Another statue was installed in the center of Izmit in 2023.
